FISH results:
.ish del(17)(p11.2p11.2)(D17S29-)

The probe that binds to locus D17S29 is present in only one of the chromosome 17's. This indicates a deletion within the band 17p11.2, and suggests Smith-Magenis syndrome.

FISH photo showing blue chromosomes with the normal 17 having two sets of red signals. The deleted 17 only has one set - the control probe.

FISH picture showing the loss of probe signal on the deleted chromosome (right). A control probe located in the long arm of chromosome 17 (in band q12) is used to mark the chromosome.
