Clipboard Patient Background

Pre-natal testing was performed on a chorionic villus sample (CVS) from a woman with a history of pregnancy loss. A tissue sample from a previous spontaneous abortion showed a structurally abnormal chromosome 13. Chromosome analysis of the couple showed that one of them is a carrier of a reciprocal translocation involving the long arm of chromosome 11 and the long arm of chromosome 13. The pre-natal testing revealed the same balanced translocation that was seen in the parent.
