Graduation and Placement

Students successfully completing the 12 months of training receive a certificate from the School of Cytotechnology, credit toward a baccalaureate degree, if appropriate, and are qualified for employment in any cytology laboratory. Graduates are also eligible to take a cytotechnology certification examination conducted by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Passing this examination certifies a technologist as C.T.(ASCP). The registry examination is given during three predetermined times throughout the year.

Because of the great need for cytotechnologists, graduates from the WSLH School of Cytotechnology have little difficulty finding suitable employment. The starting salary range for beginning cytotechnologists is comparable to that of other laboratory specialists and varies with demand and geographical location.
