Summary

I have performed analytical testing of environmental samples for metals using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrophotometry (ICP), graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry (GFAA), inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectrometry (CVAFS). I have also been in charge of operating, maintaining, and managing trace metal clean labs (TMCL) at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene.

My current responsibilities are in quality assurance for the Environmental Sciences Section, with the main focus being in the Inorganic Chemistry Department. My main duties include performing internal audits; coordinating and managing quality control analytical issues; managing proficiency evaluation samples; reviewing bottle check data; acquiring laboratory certification for environmental analyses; working with outside certification auditors to assure compliance; keeping informed on state and national environmental QA issues; maintaining analytical training records for personnel; and maintaining methods, SOP's and the ESS QA Plan in compliance with the most current regulations.
