Fields of interest
Summary I have worked in the analytical chemistry area for the past 13 years. Ten of those years have been in the General/Wet chemistry field. The past three years I have been gaining experience in our trace metals clean room facility. The clean room has been evolving from a routine environmental service area to a diversified analytical and research facility. What was once almost entirely dedicated to surface water analysis has moved into areas of air-particulate analysis, biological samples (urine, blood, lung condensate) and bone fragment analysis. The clean room is now equipped with three inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers (magnetic sector, quad system, and quad system with dynamic reaction cell technology) and an automated cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectrometer. In addition, we have expanded into the area of chemical terrorism response (as a level 2 laboratory) with the Center for Disease Control. Along with the capital investment, we have partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to increase out expertise in the field of trace metals. My responsibilities include analysis of samples, coordinating daily activities, maintaining contact with our customers and research partners, and expanding our capabilities and expertise to meet our customer’s needs.
