Calibration and Maintenance of Mechanical Pipettes in the Modern Wastewater Laboratory
Mechanical air-displacement pipettes (mechanical pipettes) are widely used in the modern wastewater laboratory. They are a convenient means of dispensing a wide variety of volumes quickly and efficiently, eliminating carryover and time consuming cleaning procedures. Mechanical pipettes must be tested and maintained regularly to ensure proper operation, much like any other laboratory instrument. Failure to do so can lead to gross error in test results. This video presentation will provide a step by step process for checking accuracy (calibration) and performance using the analytical balance commonly used for suspended solids testing. This presentation is a must for all laboratory analysts and technicians. (Windows Media Player is required for viewing).
