This three-part series seeks to provide laboratory professionals with knowledge of current clinical diagnostic recommendations and practices for identification of yeast, as well as systemic and opportunistic molds. Clinically significant pathogens and the disease they cause will serve as the basis for discussion. Part 1 will focus on when and how far does the laboratory need to go in the identification and susceptibility testing of yeast.
