Presenters:

  • Alana Sterkel, PhD, SM(ASCP), Assistant Director, Communicable Disease Division, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene
  • Snigdha Vallabhaneni, MD, MPH, Medical Epidemiologist, Mycotic Diseases Branch, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Description of Session:

This one-hour presentation by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) offers clinical and public health laboratorians an opportunity to learn more about Candida auris. This is part of a webinar series through the Wisconsin clinical laboratory network (WCLN). C. auris is emerging as a significant public health threat with high mortality and few antibiotic solutions. Challenges in diagnostics and disinfection will be addressed. The WSLH has recently brought on multiple C. auris tests to aid in surveillance. We are asking for clinical lab participation through submission of isolates.

A certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit.

This program is co-sponsored by ASCLS-WI which is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program.

As part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates. You will be asked for a code number to print the certificate. We will provide you this number during the webinar.

Please note that the deadline for receiving P.A.C.E. education credit for this webinar is September 18th, 2019.
