Welcome to the Genetics in Wisconsin: A Resource for Families and Professionals website.

This website was created as part of the project that developed the Genetic Services Plan for Wisconsin. The families and professionals involved in this project thought it would be great to have a medical genetics website specifically for Wisconsin families and the professionals that work with them. This website features links to many other websites that may be helpful to families and professionals, and also introduces the Genetic Services Plan for Wisconsin and the accompanying family stories. The family stories are an especially important part of the website as they give a face to those of us in the state who benefit from genetic services.

This website has recently been updated in order to give visitors more information on a variety of topics related to genetics. Sections like “Basics of Genetics,” “Genetics & Family History,” “Educational Materials,” and “Commonly Asked Questions” explain the importance of genetics, who might benefit from seeing a genetics professional, and why.

Others, including “Locating Medical Genetics Service Providers,” “Financing & Payment,” and “Policy & Law” are designed to help people identify the genetic services they need and receive those services without too much trouble. We hope that the Genetic Services Plan for Wisconsin and the resources on this website, including these new additions, make this website a helpful tool for Wisconsin professionals and families. Check in regularly, as the site will be updated with news and issues from around the state.
