Terry Moen |
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) Industrial Hygiene Supervisor Terry Moen received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Safety Council at its 66th Annual Safety and Health Congress & Exposition on April 29th.
Moen, who supervises the occupational health portion of WisCon – the onsite safety and health consultation program for businesses in Wisconsin -- was honored for her 27 years of commitment to occupational safety and health.
Moen began working in the occupational safety and health area as Safety & Security Officer for Cetus Corporation. She moved to the Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services, now Health & Family Services in 1984 as Deputy and then Section Chief of the Occupational Health program, notably the project manager of the WI-Health OSHA Consultation Program. She later became the Bureau Director for Occupational Health in the WI Division of Public Health/Department of Health and Family Services.
She spent one year as acting section chief for State Emergency Medical Services. Moen was instrumental in the merger of the Wisconsin Health and Safety Consultation programs into a single entity -- WisCon, Onsite Safety & Health Consultation in Wisconsin at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene.
Moen received a Master’s degree in 1977 and a Jurus Doctorate degree in 1996 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Her working relationship with the Wisconsin Safety Council began in 1984. Since then she has been continuously involved in a wide variety of Wisconsin Safety Council committees. As Wisconsin’s chapter of the National Safety Council, the Wisconsin Safety Council promotes safety and health programs, resource services and educational materials for community outreach.
Attached to the University of Wisconsin-Madison since its founding in 1903, the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene provides public, environmental and occupational health laboratory expertise to a wide variety of national, state and local partners. As the state's public, environmental and occupational health laboratory, we help maintain the public health of all Wisconsin's citizens, safeguard the state's environment and educate state residents on public health issues. Staff also serve as members of the UW-Madison faculty.
