DESCRIPTION:Presenters:\n\nErin Bowles\, B.S.\, MT (ASCP)\, Laboratory Network Coordinator & Biosafety Officer\, Communicable Disease Division\, WSLH\nRichard Dern\, M.S.\, RM(AMM)\, M(ASCP)\, Biosafety Officer\, Communicable Disease Division\, WSLH\nErik Reisdorf\, M.P.H\, Virology Surveillance and Team Leader\nPeter Shult\, Ph.D.\, Deputy Director\, Communicable Disease Division\, WSLH\nAnn Valley\, B.S.\, ARLN Coordinator\n\nDescription:\nThis one-day meeting presented by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) offers clinical and public health laboratorians\, infection preventionists and public health officers the chance to strengthen their relationships through networking and discussions of relevant laboratory issues. \nThis year’s meeting is the 3rd and final year focused on improving laboratory biosafety and biosecurity.  We will roll out a revised risk assessment tool that will be utilized to analyze our progress on improving the culture of biosafety in WI laboratories.  We will also discuss the importance of incorporating a biosafety plan into laboratory safety. We will provide updates on the impact of the ARLN\, influenza\, enteric pathogen\, etc. surveillance programs. Other topics that will round out the day are a discussion of strategies for Clostridium difficile testing and case studies. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 5.5 contact hours of instruction toward credit.\nThis program is co-sponsored by ASCLS-WI which is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates. You will be asked for a code number to print the certificate.
