DESCRIPTION:29th Annual Wisconsin Virology Conference\nPresenters: \n\nYoshihiro Kawaoka\, DVM\, PhD\, Professor\, Dept. of Pathobiological Sciences\, UW-Madison\nDerrick Chen\, MD\, Medical Director and Assistant Professor of Clinical Microbiology\, UW Hospital and Clinics\nKelsey Florek\, MPH\, PhD\, Research Supervisor\, WI State Laboratory of Hygiene\nKyley Guenther\, BS\, Microbiologist\, WI State Laboratory of Hygiene\nPete Shult\, PhD.\, Director\, Communicable Disease Division\, WI State Lab of Hygiene\nJon Temte\, MD\, PhD\, Physician\, Dept. of Family Medicine\, UW-Madison\nMary Wedig\, BS\, Electronic Lab Reporting Coordinator\, WI State Laboratory of Hygiene\n\nDescription of Session: \nThis one day conference will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about current trends in clinical and public health virology.  Topics which will be discussed include emerging viral disease threats: Ebola and Avian Influenza\, one health\, multiplex PCR respiratory panels\, whole genome sequencing for strain surveillance\, suitability of self-collected swabs and school-based respiratory virus and absenteeism surveillance. The conference will provide attendees an opportunity to learn about viruses of clinical and public health importance and to network with other clinical microbiologists in Wisconsin. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 6.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is co-sponsored by ASCLS-WI which is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates.
