DESCRIPTION:Avoid Those Tick Bites!\nPresenter: \n\nArick Sabin\, DO\, MPH\, D(ABMM)\, Infectious Diseases Physician and Director of Microbiology Research at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse\, WI\n\nDescription of Session: \nWarm weather in WI also brings with it tick activity and WI ticks are hosts for many pathogens that cause diseases in humans. This presentation will focus on the diseases that WI tick bites can transmit to humans and why you want to do your best to avoid those tick bites from the physician’s perspective. When should a tickborne disease be considered and what laboratory testing should be ordered to help make the correct diagnosis? The speaker will also touch on the changes to the testing algorithm for Lyme’s disease and if or how it impacts patient care. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is sponsored by the WSLH\, which is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates.
