Now in 2024\, six years later and adding the additional specimen sources of blood\, tissue and non-sterile fluid\, we will revisit the topic. \nIs culture still the best practice for identifying the pathogens causing infections in these sources? If not\, how are laboratories performing relevant microbiology testing on these sources today? \nLabTAG members will take the lead as we share ideas and discuss these various specimen sources looking at the pre-analytical\, analytical\, and post-analytical aspects of providing relevant microbiology diagnostic testing. Audience participation in the discussions is critical to the success of the conference. \nAdditionally\, we will present the 2024 Peter A. Shult award to this year’s recipient. \n  \nWe are pleased to announce that the 2024 recipient of the Peter A. Shult Award is Debbie Maedke. Debbie is the Microbiology Lead at Froedtert Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc\, WI. DESCRIPTION:2024 Updates to CLSI M100\n  \nPresenter: \n\nErik Munson\, PhD\, D(ABMM)\, is an Assistant Professor at Marquette University in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science and a member of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene Laboratory Technical Advisory Group\n\nDescription of Session: \nThe Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) updates the “Performance Standards for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing” annually.  It is essential for laboratories to keep up with these annual changes. Dr. Munson will discuss the major changes made to the 2024 M100 34th edition document. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is sponsored by the WSLH\, which is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates. You will search for the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene programs under the “Other P.A.C.E. Programs” tab on the ASCLS CE Organizer web site.
