SUMMARY:WCLN Webinar – Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci – Friend or Foe?
DESCRIPTION:Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci – Friend or Foe?\nPresenter: \n\nArick Sabin\, DO\, MPH\, is a practicing ID physician at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse WI\n\nDescription of Session: \nCoagulase negative staphylococcus (CoNS) are commonly considered normal flora in most cultures and not fully identified or treated\, however\, current thinking is changing as these organisms are becoming associated with true infections requiring treatment.  Dr. Sabin will discuss which coagulase negative staphylococci are becoming recognized as being more pathogenic and when they require further identification and susceptibility testing by the laboratory. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is co-sponsored by ASCLS-WI which is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates.
