DESCRIPTION:SARS-CoV-2\, Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses Update – 2020\nPresenters: \n\nPete Shult\, Ph.D.\, CDD Director and Emergency Laboratory Response\, Communicable Disease Division\, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene\nErik Reisdorf\, MPH\, Virology Surveillance and Team Lead\, Communicable Disease Division\, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene\n\nDescription of Session: \nThis webinar will provide a review of the past 2019 – 2020 respiratory virus season and will highlight our surveillance strategies and challenges for 2020-2021\, based on our expectations\, for the upcoming respiratory virus season in light of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. \nAdditional topics that will be discussed include a review of the differences/ similarities between the 2009 H1N1 pandemic and the current COVID-19 pandemic\,  updates on seasonal influenza\, SARS-CoV-2 updates and new technologies including the roll out plans for influenza & SARS-CoV-2 multiplex PCR testing for surveillance and outbreak response. Additionally\, updates on the influenza vaccine strain components will be discussed. \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is co-sponsored by ASCLS-WI which is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates.
