DESCRIPTION:SARS-CoV-2\, Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses Update – 2021\nPresenter: \n\nAllen Bateman\, Ph.D.\, D(ABMM)\, Director of Communicable Disease Division\, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene\n\nDescription of Session: \nThis webinar will provide a review of the past 2020 – 2021 respiratory virus season and will highlight our surveillance strategies and challenges for 2021-2022\, based on our expectations\, for the upcoming respiratory virus season in light of the continued SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. \nAdditional topics that will be discussed include a background in influenza and influenza surveillance\, updates on the influenza vaccine strain components\, new vaccine technologies for influenza vaccines in the future (mRNA vaccines\, etc)\, updates on influenza transmission globally\, SARS-CoV-2 updates and new technologies including whole-genome sequencing being done by multiple labs in Wisconsin for genomic surveillance\, and other respiratory virus activity and surveillance. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is co-sponsored by ASCLS-WI which is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates. You will be asked for a code number to print the certificate.
