DESCRIPTION:Presentors: \n\nJohn Pfister\, MS\, Epidemiologist\, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene\n\nDescription: \nPresentation on the WSLH occupational safety and health surveillance initiative and how it involves the ongoing systematic collection\, analysis\, interpretation\, and dissemination of available data on workplace injuries and illnesses. Since August\, 2007\, WSLH has been working to add value to the Wisconsin Workers Compensation (WC) data through a variety of management\, analysis and presentation method\, guided by an MOU with the Department of Workforce Development DWD. The intent is to make these data useful and available to occupational safety and health partners for evaluation\, program development and research purposes.

SUMMARY:WSLH Board Presentation: Water Microbiology Research
DESCRIPTION:Presentors: \n\nSharon C. Long\, Ph.D.\, Director of Environmental Microbiology\, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene\n\nDescription: \nDr. Long is currently working on a research project with the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District to confirm that their biosolids process meets Class A requirements. This work consists of information gathering\, sampling and experimental tasks to provide the scientific basis to judge Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District’s process as required in part to meet Class A. This work investigates the occurrence and destruction of fecal coliforms\, E. coli\, Salmonella\, enteric viruses\, helminth ova and the surrogates coliphages\, and aerobic and anaerobic spores thorough the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District’s biosolids production process. This project fits within one of Dr. Long’s research program goals of applying indicator organism and pathogen measurement methodologies to understand engineered systems. \n  \nWebcast: “Research in Water Microbiology” (14 minutes\, Windows Media\, 225 kbps)
