SUMMARY:WCLN Webinar - Iron Deficiency Anemia and Thrombocytosis: An Increasingly Unsurprising Duo
DESCRIPTION:Iron Deficiency Anemia and Thrombocytosis: An Increasingly Unsurprising Duo\n  \nPresenter: \n\nValerie Everard-Gigot\, PhD\, MLS(ASCP) is the Program Director and a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Marquette University\n\nDescription of Session: \nThe causes and diagnostic laboratory results (e.g.\, iron panel results) associated with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is common knowledge in medical laboratory and teaching settings.  However\, it is known to a lesser extent that IDA patients may develop thrombocytosis. This session will highlight published documentation of this correlation such as probable mechanistic causes and consequences of increased platelet formation in iron-deficient patients. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is sponsored by the WSLH\, which is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates. You will search for the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene programs under the “Other P.A.C.E. Programs” tab on the ASCLS CE Organizer web site. You will be asked for a code number to print the certificate. We will provide you this number during the webinar. \nPlease note that the deadline for receiving P.A.C.E. education credit for this webinar is July 10th\, 2025.\n \nMaterials:\n\n Iron Deficiency Anemia and Thrombocytosis: An Increasingly Unsurprising Duo – Presentation\nWCLN Webinar – Iron Deficiency Anemia and Thrombocytosis: An Increasingly Unsurprising Duo
