SUMMARY:WCLN Webinar - There must be a reason why it is on the hematology printout: Exploration of RET-He (CHr)
DESCRIPTION:There must be a reason why it is on the hematology printout: Exploration of RET-He (CHr)\n  \nPresenter: \n\nValerie Everard-Gigot\, PhD\, MLS(ASCP) is the Program Director and a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Marquette University\n\nDescription of Session: \nIron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA) have historically been diagnosed based on a combination of complete blood cell count (Hemoglobin\, Hematocrit\, RBC indices) and biochemical (serum iron\, ferritin\, total iron binding capacity and transferrin saturation) test results. Recently\, reticulocyte hemoglobin concentration\, as determined via automated hematology instrumentation and reported as “RET-He (Sysmex)” and “CHr (Siemens)\,” is being utilized as an alternative mean of detection.  This session will provide an overview of reticulocyte hemoglobin concentration methodology and explore the benefits of this newer methodology versus traditional methodologies. \n  \nA certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit. \nThis program is sponsored by the WSLH\, which is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program. \nAs part of the new P.A.C.E. continuing education process\, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your P.A.C.E. certificates. You will search for the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene programs under the “Other P.A.C.E. Programs” tab on the ASCLS CE Organizer web site. You will be asked for a code number to print the certificate. We will provide you this number during the webinar. \nPlease note that the deadline for receiving P.A.C.E. education credit for this webinar is July 30th\, 2026.\n \nMaterials:\n\n There must be a reason why it is on the hematology printout: Exploration of RET-He (CHr) – Presentation\nWCLN Webinar – There must be a reason why it is on the hematology printout: Exploration of RET-He (CHr)
