SUMMARY:WSLH Board Presentation: Novel Influenza A H1N1 Update
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: \n\nPete Shult\, PhD\, Director\, Communicable Disease Division and Emergency Laboratory Response\, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene\n\nDescription: \nWe are currently experiencing a remarkable global emergence of a novel influenza virus\, so-called novel influenza A H1N1 (swine-origin). While this influenza outbreak doesn’t appear to be as serious as first thought\, the public health impact in Wisconsin thus far and the potential for widespread transmission throughout the world and more severe illness is very real. \nDr. Peter Shult\, Director\, Communicable Disease Division\, provides a review of events that have occurred over the past two months\, with focus on activities carried out by the WSLH in support of the extensive public health response to this outbreak. A discussion of the possible impact this virus will have throughout this summer and into the 2009-2010 influenza season and planning efforts the WSLH is undertaking to address the threat are provided. \n  \nWebcast (Windows Media\, 225 kbps)
