Description:

These three one-day regional meetings presented by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) offer clinical and public health laboratorians, infection preventionists, and state and local public health representatives the chance to strengthen their relationships through networking and discussions on relevant laboratory issues.

Join us as we discuss pathogens and events that are impacting the laboratory and our communities. We will provide a review of what we found and learned from our 2022-2023 WSLH surveillance program. We will share how the rapid integration of sequencing technologies in public health laboratories is benefiting public health. We will share new recommended strategies for testing and combating Hepatitis C infections. You will be updated on our battle against antibiotic resistance in WI. You will learn more about the pathogens that have kept us busy this past year and which ones we are watching as the possible next threat to public health. We will discuss how the taxonomic name change of Ochrobactrum to Brucella impacts rule-out testing for possible bio-threat agents. We will provide some interesting case-studies and will wrap up the day with a panel discussion and provide some tools to help laboratories implement accepted revisions to breakpoints.

A certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 6.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit.

This program is sponsored by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene which is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program.

To obtain your P.A.C.E. certificate, please go to the ASCLS CE Organizer web site to print your certificate.  You will be asked for a code number to print the certificate.  The code number will be provided in the recordings for both the morning and afternoon sessions.  You must listen to the entire morning and/or afternoon session to apply for P.A.C.E. credit.  The deadline to receive P.A.C.E. credit is September 19, 2024.
