The Continued Need for Immunizations in 2016

Presenter:

  • Stephanie Schauer, Ph.D., Immunization Program Manager, Wisconsin Immunization Program, Bureau of Communicable Diseases, Wisconsin Department of Health Services

Description of Session:

This session will provide background on how vaccines work, and how they provide protection to an individual as well as a community (such as herd immunity). Real life examples (e.g. mumps, measles and pertussis) will be discussed to demonstrate the differences in vaccine efficacy and the importance of continuing to vaccinate. Common myths surrounding vaccination will also be addressed.

A certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 1.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit.

This program is co-sponsored by ASCLS-WI which is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program.
