Newborn Screening Updates

• Leadership Changes at WI Newborn Screening Laboratory



• The Wisconsin newborn screening metabolic subcommittee and the newborn screening umbrella committee have recommended discontinuing screening for Short chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (SCAD), 2-methylbutyryl CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (2MBCD), and Isobutyryl CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (IBD). A review of all cases identified during the past 10 years failed to identify any infants with these conditions that required clinical intervention. The recommendation became effective October 1, 2011.
